Today in class Mr. Schick ranted about how lazy and self-absorbed this generation is. But, he did say that he disagreed with some of the things people said about us. Then, he taught us what the term Baby Boomer meant. In 1945, when World War II ended, is when the economy was doing very well and there was a lot of money to be spent. With this money that the men from the war inherited, they bought things like washing machines, toasters, and dishwashers. Since the men had been away for almost four years fighting, they were ready to see there wives. Mr. Schick didn't go into much detail here. But, again, with the money they had, they wanted to start families...and that's what they did.

After this, Mr. Schick read us a little story, or letter that was written 100 years ago. This letter was written about the new generation that was coming, back in the early 1900's. Basically, he compared his- the writer's- generation to the new generation to come. He was ranting just like Mr. Schick! He described his generation through the story of Garcia. The story begins when war breaks out. When this happened, it was essential to communicate with Garcia, but he was no where to be seen. Leaders sent Rowan to deliver a letter to Garcia, and without asking any questions he delivered the letter successfully to Garcia. The writer said in his letter that the new generation would ask questions like...
Why?
Do I have to?
Okay, umm where is he?
Is that a real person?

I enjoyed the letter.
